Harold Bray Statue

Seventy-nine years ago, Harold Bray was one of 900 people who survived the sinking of the USS Indianapolis — only to fight sharks, starvation, and the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean for five days.

He was in a much better place on Saturday morning.

Bray — the last living USS Indianapolis survivor — sat with wife Stephanie during a ceremony for the moving of his statue to the corner of First Street and Military West at Benicia’s Eunice Jensen Park.
